How To Give Your Skin A Detox

Having a beauty detox is still one of the most popular beauty trends around. Rather than just doing a
short-term diet, however, women are giving a detox to their skin and loving the results that come
right after it! In our fast-paced lives, stress, pollution, and exhaustion tend to show their traces on
our skin and no one really likes having to deal with added wrinkles, a dull complexion, and a face full
of pimples on top of everything.

A skin detox is something that you can do after a night full of partying and caked-on makeup or just
something you do as a pampering treatment to relax when you have some time off. If you’re
interested in how you can indulge in this little treat, here are five things that you can do.

Detox

Detox through diet

What you eat doesn’t just affect your waistline, it affects the quality of your skin, hair, and nails as
well, and eating right can have some very positive effects. If you want to have your face look healthy
and glowing, try cutting down on sugar completely for a few days, and eat cooked meals instead of
processed food. Carrots and cucumber slices can be your snack, or maybe apples and nuts. You can
also drink a lot of green tea and dry these smoothies for some added detox power. Drink as much
water as you can, and avoid alcohol and coffee.

Detox

Hydrate and protect your skin

The best thing you can use is a vitamin C serum followed by an intense hydrating cream, and then
some sunscreen on top to block the harmful UVA/UVB rays. Vitamin C serums are really useful to
brighten the skin and fade out scars and hyperpigmentation marks (Drunk Elephant’s C Firma Day
Serum is really good), but it also staves off aging and makes your skin more elastic. Your moisturizer
should be gel-based if you’ve got oily skin because it will bring you the needed dose of moisture
without clogging your pores or feeling too heavy. For dry skin, try something like Kiehl’s Ultra Facial
Deep Moisture Balm.

Detox

Cleanse like a pro

If you truly wish to detox your skin, then a scrub will be necessary, in addition to your regular
cleansing. You want something that can really slough away the dirt and unclog your pores, and the
Cosmedix Purity Detox Scrub is a great choice because it’s gentle enough not to make
microabrasions that will damage your skin, and yet it leaves your face clean and smooth. If you want,
you can steam your face beforehand to make the cleaning process even more effective.

Detox

Masks that take it up a notch

A good detox mask is almost always charcoal-based. It can bind oils and chemicals to itself as you
apply it, and pull away all that sebum and dirt from your pores, leaving you completely clean. It
purifies, soothes irritations, and really gives you a thorough cleanse, and you don’t even have to buy
it. You can make a DIY version of a charcoal mask and stay clean while saving some bucks!

Detox

Dry brushing for lush skin

The only thing you need for this is a brush with firm bristles. You should stand in your bathtub while
you brush, as the skin flakes will fall around you and you don’t want them to get stuck in the
bathmat. Rub your body firmly but not too harshly before your bath, and that’s about it! What does
this accomplish? Oh boy, a lot. It exfoliates the skin of your body, it helps circulation, it can help
reduce cellulite, and it even stimulates the lymphatic system and makes your detox even more
effective. Try this latest Hollywood trend and you’ll be surprised how well it works to soften the skin
and keep it silky.

Pick a day to be your detox day, and then vow to treat your skin well. Go makeup free, cleanse, and
hydrate intensely, and the next day you’ll wake up fresh, smooth, and bright!

In today’s world, anything that we eat even the air we breathe is polluted. And there is the chance of severe diseases to occur if we do not detoxify our body.
