Contrary to the well know belief, not all fashion models are born with naturally glowing skin. They have to learn how to deal with skin problems like everyone else (and are often much worse due to heavy makeup worn on the job). Winning a genetic lottery and being physically beautiful doesn’t immune models to puffy eyes, acne, dark circles, and sensitive skin.
For a model, their job depends on them having nothing but a glowing complexion. Anything else is simply NOT an option. Here’s how these natural beauties approach skin care and what they do to keep their skin glowing naturally, year round:
1.) NEVER SLEEP WITH MAKEUP ON… Each night you sleep with your makeup on, your pores become more and more clogged. Which can overtime result in puffiness, acne, wrinkles, eye irritations, and much more. Instead, try taking 10 extra minutes at night to wipe off any excess makeup from the day.
2.) DRINK PLENTY OF WATER… Water is used by the body to flush out any excess toxins, which is essential in attaining clear skin. Aim to drink 1-3 liters of water a day, depending on how active you are! Not a fan of drinking plain water? Try adding in some lemon, lime, cucumber, or mint to a new water bottle to change the flavor!
3.) LOTS OF BEAUTY SLEEP… When you sleep your body boosts your blood flow to your skin. If you don’t get enough sleep at night your complexion will often appear dull and lifeless. Try getting between 7-9 hours of sleep at night for optimal results!
4.) CLEANSE, MIST, AND MOISTURIZE.. It took me a long time to learn this, but developing a consistent skin care regime is SOO important! I personally love to cleanse, mist (tone), and moisturize morning and night with KORA Organics. So remember that with consistency comes visible results 😉
5.) GOJI BERRY, AND HORSETAIL… There are so many different supplements out there when it comes to having healthy skin. So many that it can often seem overwhelming at times to know which is best. Goji Berry, and horsetail are a natural supplement and berry that I have come to LOVE when it comes to having healthy skin (and hair too!) Both are full of amazing antioxidants, minerals, vitamin C, amino acids, essential fatty acids, and B vitamins, which all play such a HUGE roll in attaining healthy skin (and hair too!).
6.) SERUM OR FACE OIL… Face serums or facial oils are light moisturizers that penetrate highly concentrated ingredients deep into the skin. Which will often result in brightness, reduced fine lines, even skin tone, and corrected dark spots. One of my favorite organic (and VEGAN) facial oils is the KORA Organics Noni Face Oil and Rosehip Oil. These oils are incredibly hydrating, and work well for both normal to oily skin. I personally like using oils like this on my skin before I go to bed, that way my body has several hours to sock it all up!
7.) HEALTHY PLANT BASED DIET… Eating a plant based diet has helped my skin tremendously when it comes to dark circles and an overall glow. When you eat a plant based diet full of fruits and veggies you aren’t ingesting any foreign hormones that come from animal products such as meat, milk, eggs, etc… This is one of my biggest secrets when it comes to having glowing skin, but of course listen to your body when it comes to what you eat!
8.) SWEAT IT OUT… Sweating is SO good for the skin! Not only does sweating regularly purge the skin of bacteria, impurities, and dirt, but it also helps naturally exfoliate the skin.
9.)DRY BODY BRUSHING… When I discovered what Dry Body Brushing is, I became addicted! Not only is it essential for detox, but it also is said to boost circulation, sweep away dead skin cells, stimulate lymph nodes, AND give you a boost of energy!
